The Pasadena Bioscience Collaborative has opened a third facility. For nearly a decade the collaborative has offered scientists a low-cost way to perform research. PBC is a not-for-profit, early-stage incubator that has proven to be a key factor for CEOs as they begin the complexities of starting a new company. The expansion has created space for eight more companies. The three labs further strengthen Pasadena’s burgeoning reputation as a welcoming community for biotechnology, chemistry and life science research. Known in the industry as ‘wet labs’, each of the facilities provides deionized water, chemical storage, dedicated work spaces and access to high-end, shared-use laboratory equipment that the start-ups who rent space at PBC might not otherwise be able to afford. PBC President Bruce Blomstrom said the incubator also offers scientific, technical, financial and business advisors.
